Finally, we've gotten DSL
Finally, we've gotten DSL in our backwoods corner of metro Atlanta! I was able to drop my (too expensive) ISDN and — after enduring 24Kbps dialup for nearly a month — the DSL is now up and running. Download speed tests out at around 1.2Mbps, which is almost full T1 speeds. I've missed my high speed connection ever since we moved the ISP out of the basement and de-installed my T1 in the house.
Since DirecTV DSL is kind enough to give me a fixed IP address, I'm planning to expose at least one web server to the world through a little DMZ pinhole. The server will likely be FreeBSD or OpenBSD. It's not available yet, but I'll post something here when it comes online. It *is* up and running now at least.

If your not sure if DSL or T1 is available in your area, check for T1 Availability. They have a good tool to search for bandwidth.
