Sailing, Sailing (2003-8-29)

My MINI's on its way: By the way, I think the car's name is going to be “The Blue Coop”. If only I could get 7 characters on a license plate, I'd get “BLUCOOP”, but methinks vanity plates are limited to 6. UPDATE: Ah ha! You can get 7 characters on a vanity plate! I'm [...]

Introducing the L-1 Helo (2003-8-23)

Click for larger image Christopher Longman is proud to introduce his newest creation: The L-1 Helicopter. This radical design is the result of hours of intensive study, and represents the state of the art in modern whirlybird design. Remember, helicopters can't really fly. They're just so ugly that the ground repels them.

Ross is onto something (2003-8-23)

Ross has been spamming everybody with email notifications about posts to his blog, and he finally let slip that he's formulating an idea, but he's not letting on what he's up to. Stay tuned to find out.

Viruses, Viruses, Everywhere! (2003-8-23)

The mail servers at my ISP have been totally overwhelmed by SoBig.F. To give you an idea: We're a little tiny ISP with only a few hundred customers. We scan every inbound and outbound message for viruses, and have content filters that reject messages on a handful of exceptionally suspicious conditions (e.g., a .PIF attachment). [...]

Just twiddling its thumbs (2003-8-23)

I suppose my MINI is sitting on the dock in Southampton just twiddling its thumbs. It arrived there on Wednesday, but doesn't actually sail until this coming Friday Aug 29. So for 10 days or so, it's nothing more than a waiting game. Don't they know I could be driving it sooner if they were [...]

Progress! (2003-8-20)

This is a good sign! Assuming it really gets on the Tokyo Highway, it'll be in Charleston on September 12. Figure three days to get to the VPC, two days there, and another three to get to Atlanta, and I'll have my MINI by September 20. Geez. That's a month away yet.

Blackout (2003-8-18)

I was in NYC when the lights went out last week. Read all about it here on my other blog.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' (2003-8-18)

According to James at ASK-MINI: “Your vehicle has completed production and was released for distribution” The booking still hasn't shown up on the Wallenius & Wilhelmsen site (the shipping company that will actually bring my MINI to the US), but it's bound to soon. Can you hear me grinning?

Hrmph (2003-8-10)

Today the automated status system says the estimated completion date is 8/22. That'll teach me to get my hopes up.

WHOO HOO! (2003-8-10)

Overnight, my MINI went from “On Order” to “Scheduled for Production” in the MINI Owner's Lounge, and was assigned a VIN. According to the automated status system at MINI USA, the car is actually “In Production.” The weird thing is that the automated system says the car has an estimated completion date of Aug 7, [...]
