Dinner tonight was the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on Times Square in New York. There are 12 of these around the country (plus 2 in Japan); the one on Times Square is the newest, having opened officially a few days ago. The food was great. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun. And for a restaurant that just opened a few days ago right smack-dab on Times Square, the place was sadly un-crowded.
I'm told that Bill Laimbeer, coach of the Detroit Shock (2003 WNBA Champions), was there tonight. Not that I'd know him if I saw him…but I guess somebody would.
Anyway, for $20 I had a cup of outstanding New England Clam Chowder, a very good, basic Fish and Chips meal, and a glass of Iced Tea, and was quite pleased. I hope they keep a steady stream of people coming in, though, because that much space overlooking Times Square ain't cheap, baby.
