Boot Stripes and License Plates

I added boot stripes to my MINI the other day.  They carry over the bonnet stripes (on the hood) onto the tailgate.  Looks pretty nice, if I do say so myself.

Of course, I'm good friends with the fellow who installed them.

Note the new license plate, too.  This was ordered back in September, 2003, when I bought the car, but I wasn't allowed to actually get them until the tag came up for renewal this month.  Curious thing about this: The license plate is actually B-L-U-C-zero-zero-P.  Apparently, you can't buy a vanity plate in Georgia with the letter O on it.  They always use the number zero.  I guess that old wive's tale about buying license number 01OI01O (combination of zeros, oh's, one's and i's) to throw off the cops isn't worth a hoot if you live here!

    Hello Eric,
Just today (3 years later) I have bumped into your post with the photos of your MINI. They are cool. If you don't mind sharing, I would include them into my collection of outstanding licence plates at http://www.pl8s.org.
I have a photo of a red MINI saying I Am A Beamer Too.

Do I see a COBB county label under there? I live in Marietta but venture out sometimes, and I believe I have seen this car (or one like it) around. I’m hard to spot–your typical gray Toyota.

Yes, it’s COBB county, and you probably have seen me out and about. The running joke is that I can’t go anywhere without being recognized, so I have no anonymity anymore. Sad to say that the MINI is gone now; traded about three weeks ago on a 2008 Mustang.

I have just purchased a 03 MCS that’s elec. blue with white bonnet stripes and I’m considering installing the boot stripes just like you had them to match… how much did it cost you to install and who did you use (if you don’t mind me asking)

    Thanks!

    Hi Scott,

Gee…you didn’t buy yours at Sandy Springs Ford, did you??

I had a buddy who owned a sign shop, so the stripes were made for free and I did the install myself. Unfortunately, he’s sold the business since then and is no longer a resource for that kind of stuff!

If you’re in the Atlanta area, check out Atlanta Minis (atlantaminis.com). There’s a member of the club who does wonderful work with custom striping, and I’m sure could set you up with some boot stripes…sorry, but I don’t know his name. Shouldn’t be too hard to find it by asking around on the forums, though.

Enjoy your MINI! I’ve since sold mine, but it was the best car I ever owned…most fun, too!

    Eric
