Firefox 1.0.4 + Thunderbird = Questionable
Firefox 1.0.4 was released this afternoon, apparently to plug some rather egregious security holes. Naturally, I installed it immediately.
And Thunderbird has been flakey ever since. It’ll run for a little while and then go into a coma and stop responding to the outside world in any meaningful way. Shut it down and the process continues to run. Kill the process and restart the app, and it’s happy for a little while longer.
Something’s awry with all of this. So I guess I’ll back off to Firefox 1.0.3 again and see if that helps.
Just use caution if you’re running Thunderbird and you decide to upgrade Firefox…
UPDATE (5/16/05): I can’t say for certain what was going on, but I uninstalled Firefox completely and reinstalled it, and Thunderbird has been stable ever since. There was a note on the Firefox release notes indicating that upgrading over an existing copy of Firefox could cause problems, but I assumed that since I installed from within Firefox I’d be OK. Dunno, but all’s well now.
