Running IIS in Windows XP Home
This is a neat little tidbit from Richard Sandoz:
I ran across it while looking for more information about upgrading Windows XP Home on my new Compaq Presario computer to Windows XP Pro. Although this article may help me do one of the little things that I would want to do, I’m a little miffed that I may not be able to upgrade to Windows XP Pro.
You see, I tried, and encountered a very similar problem to that described in Richard’s article:
When I tried to setup XP upgrade to pro, my laptop rebooted and hung on an xp logo with an animated graphic. I have verified this to be the case with others as well. Upgrading to xp pro isn't an option for this laptop.
In my case, it got to the animated startup screen, and then gave the fastest blue screen ever experienced in the history of man (ahh, the speed of the Athlon 64 3400+), and promptly rebooted, only to repeat the cycle.
