This is a good sign! Assuming it really gets on the Tokyo Highway, it'll be in Charleston on September 12. Figure three days to get to the VPC, two days there, and another three to get to Atlanta, and I'll have my MINI by September 20. Geez. That's a month away yet.
According to James at ASK-MINI: “Your vehicle has completed production and was released for distribution” The booking still hasn't shown up on the Wallenius & Wilhelmsen site (the shipping company that will actually bring my MINI to the US), but it's bound to soon. Can you hear me grinning?
Today the automated status system says the estimated completion date is 8/22. That'll teach me to get my hopes up.
Overnight, my MINI went from “On Order” to “Scheduled for Production” in the MINI Owner's Lounge, and was assigned a VIN. According to the automated status system at MINI USA, the car is actually “In Production.” The weird thing is that the automated system says the car has an estimated completion date of Aug 7, [...]
The fates have spoken. I checked with MINI USA this evening, and they tell me that the changes that Jeff made earlier today have been accepted into the system, and that the car will definitely be Electric Blue with Silver Wheels.
The color choice is in the hands of fate now. I decided that I wanted Electric Blue, but MINI USA told me that my car is in “Status 112 – Scheduled For Production” and they didn't think the order could be changed. When I talked with Jeff at Hank Aaron MINI, he said it's possible [...]
The decision-making engine isn't firing on all cylinders, and I've begun to question my choice of Liquid Yellow for the new MINI. Here are a couple of more pics showing what my MINI will look like (with one exception, mine will have white bonnet stripes, and the configurator I used didn't show them). The MINI Owner's Lounge still says mine's due to be built by 8/22/2003!
