That's My Boy (2006-10-4)

It’s Flag Football season, and the camera has been busy…no fair showing this to Christopher yet, though.  I’ve got a T-Shirt on its way emblazoned with the graphic shown below, and I plan to wear it to his next game without comment.  We’ll see how long it takes him to notice.

If it ain't one thing… (2006-6-11)

If it ain't one thing… On Thursday, I dropped my phone in the toilet.  (Don't worry, the toilet was clean, but still…)  It died.  Then, in the third hour, it was resurrected, and appeared to live again.  Alas, the damage was done, and the menu select button no longer worked, along with the 5 and [...]

Nick Bakay's Out-of-this-World Wing Recipe (2006-3-18)

I don't want to lose this one, so I'm re-blogging.  The following originally appeared on Nick Bakay's Superbowl XL Blog at http://www.superbowl.com/features/bakay.  Someday, please, take the time to make these wings.  They are without a doubt the best wings you've ever had.  I made up a batch for the Superbowl, and was kicking myself that [...]

Sitting in the Dark (2006-3-13)

Our office went dark this afternoon.  Turns out some yahoo in a dump truck was driving down the street with the dump bed raised, and when he went through an intersection near our office he got tangled up in the power and phone lines overhead.  The result blew at least two transformers and left several [...]

Soccer Dad! (2006-2-23)

We signed Christopher up for soccer (beginning next Friday), and learned today that his team is the only one in the league without a coach.  Guess who’s going to be the head coach?  Yep, that would be me.  Send all your good coaching vibes my way, I’ll need ‘em…I’ve never done this before!

Sudoku (2006-1-30)

Emily is enamored of Sudoku puzzles lately, and has gotten me into them as well.  I bought a copy of some Sudoku software which has the neat capability of letting you plug in puzzles from books or newspapers to solve.  The software will even verify the clues to tell you the difficulty of the puzzle [...]

Yecch! (2005-12-24)

Here's how to ruin a perfectly good Starbuck's Cafe' Mocha:  Soy Milk.  Yuck.

Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all (2005-11-24)

What are you thankful for?  Me?  Family.  Friends.  Faith.  (The three “f’s”)  The opportunity to go to “play” instead of having to go to “work”.  So many, many things.  We are truly blessed.  Have a great turkey day!  Oh, and if by some weird sequence of events you manage to overeat (imagine that!), the word [...]

Lying in Repose (2005-9-6)

I heard on NPR today that Chief Justice William Rehnquist’s body is lying in repose at the Supreme Court, and I wondered what the difference was between “lying in repose” and “lying in state”.  Here it is, in case you’re curious, too, courtesy of Wikipedia: Lying in repose is when the remains of a deceased person, often one of [...]

Journeys of Faith (2005-6-18)

Attached is a document that has the readings from Sunday, June 12 and the text of the sermon I preached.  If you didn't make it, here's another opportunity to hear read what I had to say.  Just don't judge it too harshly…it was my first sermon!
